Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up for its UFC 230: “Cormier vs. Lewis” mixed martial arts (MMA) event on pay-per-view (PPV), locked and loaded for this Sat. night (Nov. 3, 2018) inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. Prior to this weekend’s big shebang, which also features “Prelims” bouts on UFC Fight Pass and FOX Sports 1, the promotion will send all 26 fighters to the scale for the official UFC 230 weigh ins.

In a somewhat unexpected booking, the UFC inked a matchup between heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and No. 2 ranked contender Derrick Lewis shortly after Lewis knocked out Alexander Volkov on Oct. 6. After that come from behind victory, Lewis, when asked about a potential fight with Cormier, said, “(Expletive) what you talking about right now. I ain’t trying to fight for no title right now, not with no gas tank like that.” As for Cormier, he broke his hand in his title-winning fight against Stipe Miocic in July and recently admitted that he couldn’t fully make a fist with that limb.

In the co-main event, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman meets long-time top contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in a 185-pound scrap.

Before the fighters step into the octagon on Saturday, Nov. 3, they will hit the scales. The ceremonial weigh-ins take place on Friday. The first fighter is set to hit the scale at 6 p.m. ET.
